The Global Textile and Clothing
Industry post the Agreement on Textiles
and Clothing. Discussion Paper

liberalization in the textiles and clothing
sector with the end of import quotas on
1 January 2005, when the sector will become
subject to the rules of the General Agreement

and Clothing (ATC) and progress so far
in quota elimination, focusing on technology
and industrial organization and analyses
the ATC countries' trade patterns in the
sector since 1995, followed by an assessment

the awareness supporting industries in
ASEAN member countries. Investment promotion

The IGTN consists of seven regional networks
(Africa, Asia, Caribbean, Europe, Latin
America, North America, and Pacific) of
women involved in research, advocacy and
economic literacy around issues of trade
and development. The network was established
following a Strategic Planning Seminar
on Gender and Trade, held in Grenada,
December 1999. The outcomes of the meeting
identified critical research needs and
goals, a plan for developing regional
networks building toward an international
network on gender and trade, as well as
an outline for developing trade literacy
networks as tools for popular education
and mobilization.

by the Shanghai Municipal Government which

of small enterprises in Shanghai. It serves
as the bridge between the government and
the small enterprises. Its main functions
include:

of small enterprises in Shanghai;
- Guide and promote the restructuring
and reform of small enterprises in Shanghai;

institutes for small enterprises;
- Make good use of the special fund issued
by the municipal government;
- Collect information, analyze and provide
suggestions to the municipal government
