The Asia-Pacific Trade and Investment Agreements Database (APTIAD) provides access to two web-based databases that provide quantitative and qualitative information on trade flows and trade performance: (a) the Trade Agreements Database (TAD) platform provides detailed descriptive information on the provisions of regional trade agreements (RTAs) and bilateral trade agreements (BTAs) involving one or more members from the region, as well as a set of indicators to monitor the performance of these trade agreements; (b) the Interactive Trade Indicators (ITI) platform allows for a calculation of indicators for quick and easy monitoring of developments in trade patterns and trade flows at single economy and trade agreements levels, including export growth rates, trade complementarity, revealed comparative advantage, or intra-industry trade. APTIAD allows searches in two ways: one relates to the agreements themselves where users can search by titles, members, key terms, types and scopes of agreements and their status; the second is the possibility to search publications relevant to regional integration and trade agreements. Access to APTIAD is free upon registration. To register please go to www.unescap.org/tid/aptiad

The ARTNeT Gravity Modeling Tool is part of the initiative aimed at more closely integrating the research capacity building and research programme implementation objectives and activities of ARTNeT (www.artnetontrade.org), particularly under the research theme on trade, investment and domestic policy coherence for inclusive growth. The core of this tool is a standard gravity model which has become a work horse in empirical trade research. It is frequently used to analyze how various forms of trade costs, such as transport costs, tariff and non-tariff barriers, institutional, cultural or legal frameworks, governance quality differentials etc., act as resistance factors to merchandise trade between two countries. The on-line tools provide access to two databases: (a) a panel dataset of merchandise trade data from 1994 to 2007 for 50 countries, and (b) a trade facilitation dataset which has data on trade facilitation and behind-the-border measures for 2006, also for 50 countries. While the first dataset is mostly used to assess how much the actual bilateral trade flows differ from the one estimated by the model and thus are often used to derive bilateral trade potentials, the second dataset is used to analyze the impact of improvements in trade facilitation and behind the border protectionism on bilateral trade flows. The access if free for members of ARTNeT upon registration. To register, please visit www.artnetontrade.org.
