Training on Evidence-based Policy-making in Trade and Investment
Date |
26-29 July 2011 |
Venue |
Bangkok, Thailand |
Organizer
|
Trade and Investment Division, ESCAP |
Objective
|
Evidence-based policy making implies a process of gathering, critically appraising and using high quality research and analytical evidence to inform policy making, and assist in policy implementation and development. It aims to integrate research- and expert-based information with the experience, judgment and expertise of policymakers. While in many cases evidence is qualitative, it also increasingly involves data and results of quantitative analysis. The sessions therefore aim to introduce the sources and handling of data relevant for trade policy as well as tools of analysis available online (such as ARTNeT Interactive Gravity Tool and World Integrated Trade Solution). |
