       Macao Regional Knowledge Hub (MARKHUB)

About the Project
The project “Towards a Macao Regional Knowledge Hub in Support of the Sustainable Trade and Development”, in short MARKHUB, taps into valuable experiences learnt from working with virtual networks and ‘real’ institutions/ organizations in the area of economic policy making and training. The project is underpinned by two types of activities: (a) capacity building in research, delivery of research outputs and their dissemination through a newly established Macao Working Paper Series, in collaboration with ARTNeT, WTO and other institutions taking part in research and other initiatives in the region; and (b) capacity building in the area of trade policy formulation, monitoring and evaluation through the convening of regional policy consultations. Both of these areas of activities will be the focus of the Macao Regional Knowledge Hub – MARKHUB which will be a knowledge hub for the exchange of research findings on good practices in sustainable trade and development policies The project is interdisciplinary in character and as such will be implemented by joining forces with Macao University of science and Technology (MUST) and other partner institutions including the research community, business and civil society. The involvement of local partners is fundamental to motivating and nurturing local research, the project has a clear emphasis on the incorporation of inputs from local academic institutions as a means for capacity enhancement and the development of a research community which is able to claim ownership of policy solutions as well as of their consequences.
