The Conference marks the 5th anniversary of the Asia-Pacific Research and Training Network on Trade (ARTNeT) and will provide an opportunity for ARTNeT researchers to showcase their work, as well as to get input from prominent trade experts from around the world. In addition, the Conference will result in policy recommendations to the Governments of the region which will be submitted to the Committee on Trade and Investment of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.

General Information about Bangkok and Thailand
Please read the one-page overview of Thailand.

i. Business Hours
General office hours in Bangkok are 8:30am-4:30pm Monday-Friday. Shopping hours vary from city to suburb. Most large department stores are open 10:00am-9:00pm daily.

ii. Banking and Credit Cards
Normal banking hours are 8:30am-3:30pm Monday to Friday. The most commonly accepted credit cards are Visa, MasterCard, Cirruss and American Express.

iii. Telephone
To make a telephone call to numbers in Thailand, your family/colleagues will need to dial with their country?s international access code, followed by 66 (for Thailand), followed by 2 for Bangkok, and followed by the target number. To call from Thailand abroad, you will need to dial 001 followed by the country code (e.g. for Nepal 00197) followed by the city code and target number.

iv. Electric Power
The electrical current in Thailand is 220 volts, 50 Hz. Devices from other countries may require adaptors and/or transformers to accommodate these connections and current types.

vi. Climate
Bangkok has a hot, tropical climate. November to February is the driest time of year, with hardly any rainfall. Daytime temperatures in the dry season range from about 23 to 31 degrees Celsius. All hotels, conference venues and shopping malls are air conditioned.
