CENSUS is an ARTNeT initiative concerning intellectual property rights (IPR's )for facilitating the Asia-Pacific growth of the innovation economy by offering the region an interactive and engaging network for regional stakeholders be they involved policy makers, esteemed academics or expert intellectual property lawyers.
In early 2012 the ARTNeT secreteriat set out to establish the network as a repsonse to the observable demand for a plaftorm providing accessible, relevant and unbiased information on IPR's and their practical effects in the region. With the participation of an initial set of active members and other partners CENSUS was created to help close the development gaps in the Asia-Pacific through enhanced use and undestanding of IPRs.
The ARTNeT secreteriat collaborates closely with regional stakeholders in order to strenghten the development of the Asia-Pacific region by means of capacity building, network building, research and norm advocacy. ARTNeT CENSUS will mobilize not only the regional stakeholders but also those global partners with a solid background in IPRs and related policies that are able to contribute their best practices and past experiences.
In collaboration with suitable and motivated partners ARTNeT CENSUS will target its activities at in particular at the SME's and policy- and decision makers of the Asia-Pacific region. Special attention is given to the priority needs of developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
