Trade Preferential System Among the Member States of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference

WTO consideration process : 
GOODS
Tariffs
Protocol on the Preferential Tariff Scheme (PRETAS) covers 7 per cent of the total tariff lines with tariffs above 10 per cent.
Tariff reduction under nomal track with tariffs above 25 per cent to be reduced to 25 per cent; between 15-25 per cent reduced to 15 per cent and 10-15 per cent reduced to 10 per cent.
Normal track implementation in 4 annual instalments for developing countries and 6 for the LDCs. Voluntary acceleration of traiff reduction recommended.
Rules of Origin
Harmonised set of RoO as agreed under the FA are used to grant concessions, until the new set of RoO are adopted by the TNC

   Anti - Dumping : Consistent with relevant WTO rules. Article 8
   Countervailing Duties : Consistent with relevant WTO rules. Article 8

The required number of 10 ratifying states for the entry into force of the Framework Agreement was reached in the autumn of 2002, and accordingly, the first round of trade negotiations for establishing the TPSOIC was launched in April 2004.
