The main objective of the Third working meeting of the TAG was to discuss and agree on specific activities to implement the work plan approved by the third session of the Committee on Statistics. In particular, at the meeting, the TAG was expected to:
Agree on the strategy and content for a refinement of the Core Set of population and social statistics, based on the feedback already received from consultations with member States and partner international organizations, as well as on ongoing development debates at global and regional level. During the meeting, this line of work evolve to the development of a Capacity Framework to improve population and social statistics, which includes the refined Core set in its domains and themes;
Develop a framework and a detailed plan for the review of current national practices in population and social statistics;
Produce a detailed work plan for the TAG until the fourth session of the Committee on Statistics in December 2014.
