The fifth meeting of the Working
Party on the Application of New Technology to
Population Data was held in Bangkok on 21 October
1999. It was attended by all the members
of the Working Party, a faculty member of the
Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific
(SIAP), and the ESCAP Adviser on Population
Statistics of the United Nations Population
Fund/Country Support Team (UNFPA/CST) for East
and South Asia. The main task of the meeting
was to evaluate the Workshop on Application
of New Information Technology to Population
Data, held from 12 to 20 October, and to adopt
procedures for completing the remaining activities
of the project.
