QUESTIONNAIRE
Application of New Technology to Population Data Collection, Processing and Dissemination

ESCAP Statistics Division is conducting a survey on the application of information technology to population data in the national statistical offices of  the ESCAP region.   The  main objective of the survey is to take stock of the current state of technology application to population data in the ESCAP region.  This exercise should also benefit the national statistical offices (NSOs) in assessing their own situation, while the results of the survey will assist comparisons across countries/areas.  The results of the survey will be submitted to the ESCAP Committee on Statistics in 1998.

The survey stems from a UNFPA-funded project (RAS/96/P12) on the application of new technology to population data collection, processing, dissemination and presentation. The results of the survey will also be used by this regional project which aims at, among other things, formulating guidelines and  recommendations on the application of information technology in national statistical offices.

The secretariat and the ESCAP Working Party on the Application of New Technology to Population Data, which is steering the project activities, would appreciate your cooperation in answering the questionnaire and returning it by 15 June 1998 to Mr Andrew J. Flatt, Director, Statistics Division, Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, United Nations Building, Rajadamnern Nok Avenue, Bangkok 10200, Thailand.
