Second Workshop for Improving Disability Statistics and Measurement
Bangkok, 27-29 September 2004
Last update: 5 November 2004

This workshop was the second in the two-year (2004-2005) project implemented by UNESCAP to assist selected countries in the Asia-Pacific region in building a reliable disability information system to support national programmes and policies on the disabled and monitor the Biwako Millennium Framework. The first workshop (Bangkok, 24-28 May 2004) focused on basic training in the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF).

The Second Workshop discussed standard question sets on disability to be tested at country-levels and issues related to question formulation, testing and interview techniques as well as how to bring existing registers in line with ICF. In addition, a session was devoted to hear from country representatives on progress of their national action plans in relation to upcoming data collections.

On the last day of the Workshop, participants attended the first-day work of the Washington Group on Disability Statistics, fourth meeting, Bangkok, 29 September - 1 October 2004.
