Effective use of statistical data for policy analysis and advocacy in Asia and the Pacific: Building on success
Bangkok, 24-26 October 2011
Last update: 29 March 2012
This workshop was part of an on-going initiative to promote the effective use of statistical data for policy analysis and advocacy in support of the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals in Asia and the Pacific. It followed up on a high-level consultation in December 2010 with leaders and senior experts from national statistical offices, line ministries and development partners to develop a framework for identifying, documenting and promoting good practices in the use of statistical data in support of evidence-based decision-making and the subsequent piloting of the draft framework by selected member States and development partners. The workshop aimed to bring together national and international experts to review the experiences of piloting the draft framework and to provide guidance to ESCAP on developing a regional knowledge base of “what works” in terms of using statistical data for policy analysis and advocacy.
