The goal of the Regional Programme is to improve the soundness of economic analysis and decision‐making through increased timeliness and availability and effective use of reliable and comparable economic statistics. The demand for improved economic statistics for Asia‐Pacific is greater than ever.

At its second session in December 2010, the Committee on Statistics endorsed the Regional Programme on Economic Statistics for the improvement of economic statistics in Asia and the Pacific and a Core Set of Economic Statistics.
