ANNOUNCEMENT: As parts of Thailand have experienced flooding during the past weeks, there is uncertainty with regard to the situation in Bangkok in the foreseeable future. In light of the current situation, it has thus been decided that the Workshop on the Institutional Strengthening of National Women's Machineries in South-East Asia, originally scheduled from 8 to 11 November 2011 in Bangkok, will be postponed. |
The Social Development Division of United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) will co-organize jointly with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN-Women East and South-East Asia Sub-Regional Office) a Workshop on the Institutional Strengthening of National Women's Machineries in South-East Asia. Key objective of the Workshop is to enhance the institutional capacity of national women's machineries to effectively advocate and negotiate gender mainstreaming across all areas of national policy, budget and programmes. It also aims to identify and address areas of strategic concern for the advancement of women's equality and rights. Common priorities and strategies for follow-up at the national and sub-regional level will be identified.
