Sustainable Social Development
The Emerging Social Issues Division promotes
sustainable social development by addressing persistent and emerging social
issues. It focuses particularly on health and development, gender and
development, empowerment of persons with disabilities and population
dynamics, including population ageing, international migration and
reproductive health.
The Division pursues its goals
by cooperating with Governments in setting regional goals, monitoring
regional social trends, providing technical assistance, conducting training
courses and workshops, capacity-building, supporting research and exchanging
information among development partners.
The Emerging Social Issues
Division assists member and associate member Governments and
non-governmental organizations. It cooperates with others United Nations
bodies and agencies, academic institutions and the private sector. |
