The nexus approach aims at integrated planning and management processes of the key sectors of energy, water and food security, and this can contribute substantially to the long-term sustainable development of rapidly growing cities in the region. The case studies listed below attempt to address some of the challenges and the opportunities associated with integrating the nexus thinking into current and future investments;
Asian Highway classification and design standards were proposed and endorsed as general guidelines for Asian Highways by the Expert Group Meeting held from 29 November to 3 December 1993 in Bangkok.
Since most Asian Highway member countries have their own design standards (most of them are based on AASHTO standards), the Asian Highway classification and standards was simplified to only provide necessary minimum standards and guidelines to facilitate international road traffic in 1995.
