Partners agree on the structure of the next development cooperation forum

ESCAP East and North-East Asia (ENEA) Office organized a planning meeting on 27 February to hold consultation on the substantive focus and logistics of the 4th North-East Asia Development Cooperation Forum with focal points of four partner associations from China, Japan, Republic of Korea, and the Russian Federation. The Forum is now scheduled to be held on 28-29 September, 2017 in Moscow, Russian Federation.

Experts embark on an analysis of innovative data approaches for the SDGs

A preparatory meeting on the use of innovative data approaches for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was held in Incheon on 24 January. Among the topics of discussions were using big data methodologies to improve data capture and analysis for monitoring and implementing the SDGs. ESCAP ENEA Office and Statistics Korea will jointly organize a workshop in June 2017 to further discuss this issue in collaboration with government partners in the subregion.

Former Secretary-General welcomed in his home country

The Homecoming Reception for the 8th UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon was held on 23 January at ESCAP ENEA Office in Incheon. More than 160 staff working in the UN Offices and international organizations in the Republic of Korea attended the event to show appreciation for Mr. Ban's dedication and service during his 10-year tenure as Secretary-General.

New Report - "Achieving Sustainable Development Goals in East and North-East Asia"

Despite having made significant progress over the past two decades, ENEA is still faced with a number of challenges in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The upcoming report identifies priority areas for the subregion and proposes recommendations for facilitating the means of implementation for the SDGs in the subregion.
