Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific 2016

The Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific 2016

The Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific is the oldest and most comprehensive annual review of economic and social development in Asia and the Pacific. This flagship publication of ESCAP analyses economic conditions and selected development challenges, and suggests policies to sustain economic growth and to make it more inclusive. This edition of the Survey argues that the next phase of the region’s economic growth should be driven by broad-based productivity gains and further rebalancing towards domestic and regional demand. This would require higher and targeted fiscal spending, enhanced skills, better infrastructure, and improved agricultural productivity.

The Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific 2016 will be released by Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of ESCAP, in Bangkok, Thailand on April 28, 2016.
