Implications of globalization for agro-based industries are examined from the angles of increased movement of goods, capital flows, labour and the formation of international production networks. The paper highlights capacity-building in policy and institution development. It also discusses investment promotion and private sector development and facilitation in terms of community building in rural areas and agro-based entrepreneurship development. The issue of technological capacity-building in rural areas is examined with a view to promote appropriate technologies, research and development, and human resources development. |
