| This publication discusses the implications for foreign direct investment and technological capacity-building in least developed countries, with particular attention to problems and technology transfer issues in small and medium enterprises, as well as capacity-building in technology transfer and the private sector in Nepal. The Government of Nepal needs to effectively implement policies and strengthen institutions to promote and support small and medium enterprises. It is recommended that entrepreneurship development programmes be promoted through training at central and district levels. The Government should enhance support facilities to strengthen the technological capabilities of microenterprises, cottage and village businesses, and small and medium enterprises. The Government and private sector of Nepal should jointly identify areas and subsectors of comparative advantage for the country and promote these areas to strengthen their competitiveness. |
