This handbook introduces the concept of trade facilitation and provides guidance and ideas on how to actively pursue trade facilitation at national and regional levels. It focuses on selected issues of particular importance for trade facilitation in the developing economies of the Greater Mekong Subregion. These include the costs and benefits of trade facilitation, standards and tools to improve import and export procedures and documentation, and ways to develop public-private sector cooperation. The handbook also discusses how trade facilitation practices can result in more effective control and enforcement and examines the role of the government in trade financing.
