The pilot study, reported on in this volume, was conducted by the Space Technology Applications Section (STAS) of the Environment and Natural Resources Division of ESCAP and had as its purpose to determine the feasibility of a regional operational earth space information network that would assist access to, and distribution of, data and information required for planning and implementing sustainable development. Based on an analysis of the information acquired, a structure of the Earth Space Information Network for Asia and Pacific (ESINAP) has been proposed.
