| Distance education is one of the spin-off benefits of satellite communications of special relevance to developing countries. A seminar was held in Manila from 9 to 12 September 1997; this report includes presentations at the seminar made by representatives of 13 countries of the region, illustrating a number of examples of the utilization of satellite communications technologies for formal, non-formal and informal education at various levels. In addition to country profiles, ideas on regional cooperation and technical inputs are provided by specialists in the field. |
