| The regional seminar is organized annually by ESCAP in collaboration with the National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA) and the Remote Sensing Technology Centre (RESTEC) of Japan. The goal of the regional seminar is to develop indigenous awareness and capability in member countries in the applications of earth observation for environmental management and sustainable development of natural resources. This publication is the report of the most recent collaboration, a seminar organized to broaden the knowledge of users of spatial information technologies for natural resource ma nagement and environment monitoring including regional planners, senior-level managers and junior-level practitioners. It includes technical papers on applying remote sensing and GIS for forest resource management, natural resource management, and on the utilization of satellite data.
The publication is a report of the proceedings of he Eighth Regional Seminar on Earth Observation for Tropical Ecosystem Management held at Yangon from 25 to 29 October 1999. |
