This manuscript has been issued as the preliminary, unedited, study of the second part of the forthcoming publication on two of the four dimensions of the International Year of Older Persons as discussed above.

The study has two parts; the first discusses the dynamics of multi-generational relationships in the context of family, community and society while the second focuses on policies and programmes to promote multi-generational ties.
