| ISO 14000, Environmental Management Systems (EMS), is a formal business process used by an organization to address environmental issues and a tool to measure and manage its external environmental impact according to its environmental policy. The Manual developed as the part of the project on "Regional Capacity-Building for the Adoption of ISO 14000" to assist small and medium enterprises (SMEs) within the Asia and the Pacific in the implementation of the ISO 14000. The manual presents an overview of the project, reviews the development of environmental management systems with focuses on the International Standards on Environmental Management Systems and discusses major principles governing ISO 14000 series. The Manual describes the plan to establish EMS, the documentation system environmental management programme, and EMS auditing system. |
