| This study provides important information to the developing countries of the region for building the capacity of their institutions so that they can adopt and implement the proper laws relating to the intellectual property rights (IPRS) and help promote technology transfer and build up their technological capabilities through the proper implementation of the TRIPS Agreement. Implications of TRIPS for industrial and technological development are reviewed, focusing on the Indian experience. Developing countries need to develop a common position on issues concerning TRIPS. The study surveys intellectual property laws, IPR enforcement mechanisms, and legal infrastructure. A code of conduct on technology transfer is proposed. |
