This year’s Survey, entitled “Addressing Triple threats to Development” analyses how the financial, food/fuel and climate change challenges have affected Asia and the Pacific and considers ways of addressing them. Central to this report is the idea that the convergence of the crises presents an opportunity for the region to reorient economic growth towards a long term development path that is more inclusive and sustainable. Governments as the peoples’ partner will play a key role in forming and framing the region’s future development path. Economies of the region will be able to tackle these challenges best by bolstering national policy actions with key concerted region cooperation initiatives that in turn can serve as a building blocks of a more inclusive multilateral system.
