| This publication explores the need, priorities and cost of implementation of selected trade facilitation measures in five Asian countries in the context of the WTO negotiations on trade facilitation. It consists of a synthesis of country studies conducted in Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia and Nepal in cooperation with national-level research institutions member of the Asia-Pacific Research and Training Network on Trade (ARTNeT). It contains a detailed and comparative assessment of the trade facilitation situation in these countries, results of private sector surveys on the trade facilitation needs and priorities in each of the countries It also covers the implementation costs and sequencing of twelve trade facilitation measures under consideration by the WTO Negotiating Group on Trade Facilitation, on the basis of findings from a survey of international experts on trade facilitation implementation in developing countries. Implications and recommendations for the WTO negotiations on trade facilitation are also presented. |
