| The launching of a regional space applications programme (RESAP) in 1994, encouraged the ESCAP members and associate members to work together on developing a sustainable cooperative programme covering all aspects of space technology, which can be used, for environmental and natural resources development. Along this line, this compendium on the status of space technology and applications for development in the ESCAP region was prepared in order to provide a record of the contemporary status of regional and national capacities and capabilities regarding space-related activities.
The compendium aimed to provide an overview and to serve as a reference document to guide the decision makers from the region in formulating appropriate policies toward realization of a collaborative and cooperative regional programme on space applications for sustainable development. |
