UNESCAP undertakes normative, analytical, and technical work in implementing its programme of work. Our normative work, part of our analytical work (eg. UNESCAP “flagship publications”) and a small portion of our operational work are funded by the regular budget (RB), as approved by the General Assembly.

Once global/regional agendas/norms are set, further interventions are often needed to carry out the mandates agreed upon. The technical cooperation work funded through RB is complemented by extra-budgetary resources (XB) to carry out our technical cooperation activities.

All technical cooperation interventions (TC projects) must support the programme of work and complement our “normative work” (e.g. the mandates set by the legislative bodies).
