New ILO paper: "Reaching MDGs: how well does agricultural productivity growth reduce poverty?"
A new Employment Strategy Paper by Nomaan Majid at the International Labor Organization (ILO) shows that agricultural growth is critical for poverty reduction both in an absolute sense as well as in a relative sense in comparison to other sectors. This is largely because poverty has a dominant rural dimension. The paper suggests poverty reduction efforts should have an explicit agricultural growth strategy in place.
