Objectives:
This meeting will discuss food security and poverty reduction in the Asian region from the sub-regional perspective. The objectives of the meeting will be:
  • Strengthen the dialogue among the Sub-regional Economic Organizations and between them and interested international and regional technical and donor agencies on MDGs.
  • Identify the priority sub-regional issues and concerns affecting poverty, food security, agriculture and rural development.
  • Formulate Regional Programmes to address these issues and concerns and reinforce national initiatives.

Ministers and high-level officials at the Departments of Agriculture/Food, Rural Development and Planning; Heads of the Sub-regional Economic Organizations such as ASEAN, PIF-FIC and SAARC; high level representatives of Regional Development Banks/Agencies, and representatives of international development agencies, IFIs, multi- and bilateral donors, selected regional civil society organizations, women’s organizations and other relevant institutions.
