Regional Technical Seminar on
"Local Governance and Basic Services Delivery in Conflict Affected Areas"
2-3 June 2009
Bangkok, Thailand

A regional technical seminar organized jointly by ESCAP and UNDP on ‘local governance and basic services delivery in conflict affected areas’ took place in Bangkok from 2 to 3 June 2009. 46 participants exchanged knowledge and experiences on the key lessons learned on sub-national state-building, service delivery and conflict prevention. Participants consisted of local and central government officials of the Asian and the Pacific region, representatives of NGOs and civil society organizations, experts in reconstructing and strengthening local governance in post-conflict and fragile situations and officers of different departments and agencies of the United Nations System.
