Policy Dialogue on Emerging Macroeconomic Policy Issues and Development Challenges in the ESCAP Region: A Post-Crisis Scenario and Expert Group Meeting on Economic and Social Performance in the ESCAP Region

ESCAP’s Macroeconomic Policy and Development Division (MPDD) will hold a Policy Dialogue on Emerging Macroeconomic Policy Issues and Development Challenges in the ESCAP region: A Post-Crisis Scenario on 8 December 2010 at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok. The meeting will bring together experts and policymakers from the region in an open dialogue to analyze emerging macroeconomic policy issues and challenges including (i) sustaining recovery and promoting inclusive growth; (ii) macroeconomic stability, fiscal balance and inflation; (iii) capital flows, balance of payments and exchange rate management and; (iv) rebalancing Asia Pacific economies. MPDD will also organize an Expert Group Meeting on Economic and Social Performance in the ESCAP Region on 9 December 2010. The main purpose of the meeting is to review the working chapters of the Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific 2011, ESCAP’s flagship publication. A number of experts and policymakers from the region will participate in discussing the current state and future outlook of economic and social development in Asia Pacific economies.
