In accordance with the mandate by the General Assembly, the Secretary-General has established the UN System Task Team to coordinate system-widepreparations for the post-2015 UN development agenda. The Task Team has already submitted its first report to the Secretary-General entitled “Realizing the Future We Want for All”.
In July 2012, the Secretary-General launched his High-level Panel of the Eminent Persons to provide guidance and recommendations on the post-2015 development agenda. The report of the Panel will be published in May 2013. These two processes are complemented by national consultations in more than 60 countries and a set of eleven thematic consultations organized by the United Nations Development Group.
The ongoing processes related to the post-2015 development agenda will be closely coordinated with that of the intergovernmental working group tasked to design Sustainable Development Goals, as agreed at the Rio+20 conference. As the preparations for the post-2015 development agenda are going on, it is vitally important to ensure that the special challenges and priorities of the most vulnerable countries, namely LDCs, LLDCs and SIDS, are fully reflected in the background documents and all intergovernmental processes and discussions.
