ESCAP in collaboration with OHRLLS will organize a Special Event on the Implementation of the BPoA by Asia-Pacific LDCs and identify forward looking strategies and options at the United Nations Fourth Conference on LDCs, Istanbul, Turkey on 11 May 2011. The Special Event seeks to mobilize and galvanize further political support for the outcome of the LDC IV Conference. The Special Event will bring together some high-level policy makers, including Ministers in a dialogue on taking forward the un-finished agenda of the development of LDCs.
Presentations of highlights from the regional review, containing the updated regional overview and the thematic papers presented at the High-level Asia-Pacific Policy Dialogue on the Brussels Programme of Action for the least developed countries, held in Dhaka on 18-20 January 2010, the Dhaka Outcome Document as adopted by the sixty-sixth session of the Commission and an analytical study on promoting productive capacity in the Asia-Pacific LDCs will form the basis of this dialogue.
The Special Event will bring together selected Heads of States/Heads of Governments/Senior Ministers/ Eminent persons/senior policymakers and other stakeholders from Asia-Pacific LDCs and other countries and institutions.
