Mandates on ESCAP's statistical work come from the General Assembly, the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) resolutions. The Committee on Statistics provides oversight and direction on ESCAP's statistical work.
Delivery of the work programmes is led by smaller working groups of member states and partner agencies. These groups provide technical advice, agree actions and formulate programmes that aim to leverage the power of regional cooperation to deliver efficient and effective solutions to common problems.
The Committee, or its Bureau, reviews the recommendations from each of these Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs) or Steering Groups and provides additional guidance when required.
