Launch of the UN Economic and Social Survey for Asia and the Pacific 2014
Asia-Pacific developing economies are experiencing yet another year of subdued growth, which makes the unlocking of fiscal space and the removal of domestic structural constraints critical to help stimulate growth and support social development, urged the latest flagship publication of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
The 2014 edition of the Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific, lays out a blueprint for mobilizing resources, focused on strengthening tax revenues which fall far short of their potential in most countries in the region.
The flagship publication of ESCAP – the regional arm of the United Nations – provides policy options for governments to overcome these challenges and maintain the pursuit of inclusive and sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific.
