Launch of the Asia-Pacific Trade and Investment Report 2016

29 November 2016, Bangkok, Thailand

Despite relatively robust economic performance in many Asia-Pacific countries and the region retaining its position as the largest exporter in the world, merchandise and services export growth have declined in the past year, says the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in its latest report. The Asia-Pacific Trade and Investment Report 2016 further highlights a phenomenal reduction in the region’s share of global foreign direct investment over the same period.

The Asia-Pacific Trade and Investment Report is an annual publication of ESCAP which provides independent analyses of regional trends and developments related to trade, foreign direct investment, trade facilitation and policy measures, value chains and more.

The report also offers insights into the impacts of these recent and emerging developments on countries’ abilities to meet the challenges of achieving inclusive and sustainable development.
