Asia-Pacific Leaders Convene to Discuss Strategies to Build Resilience to Natural Disaster and Economic Crises in the Region
The 69th Commission Session of ESCAP under the theme, “Building resilience to natural disasters and major economic crises” will be held at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok from 25 April to 1 May. The annual Session comprises two parts: the Senior Officials Segment from 25 to 27 April in preparation for the Ministerial Segment, which will be held from 29 April to 1 May.
ESCAP has prepared a theme study for this Session entitled “Building Resilience to Natural Disasters and Major Economic Crisis.” The Study proposes frameworks for protecting the region against any lasting effects of two types of shocks that can dramatically effect development in region - natural disasters and external economic crisis.
