H.E. Mr. José Ramos-Horta, Former President of Timor-Leste, Nobel Peace Laureate and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Guinea-Bissau will deliver the Seventh ESCAP Distinguished Persons Lecture at 4pm on 19 December at United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok.

Mr. Horta will be speaking on “Imperatives of regional economic integration for an Asia and the Pacific century: with a special reference to Timor-Leste.” The lecture will take place during the ESCAP Ministerial Conference on Regional Economic Cooperation and Integration in Asia and the Pacific.

This event is part of the ESCAP Distinguished Persons Lecture Series in which talks have been delivered by Professor Joseph Stiglitz, Sir Richard Jolly and Dr. Louis Emmerij, Professor Amartya Sen, former President Haruhiko Kuroda of the Asian Development Bank, Professor Robert Mundell, and Professor Jeffrey Sachs.

The lecture will be followed by an open discussion, which will be moderated by Dr. Noeleen Heyzer, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and ESCAP Executive Secretary.
