United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, today announced the appointment of Noeleen Heyzer of Singapore, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and current Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), as his Special Adviser for Timor-Leste. Dr. Heyzer will carry out the responsibilities of both roles concurrently.
