Mr. Kim Hak-Su, Executive Secretary, ESCAP, delivers policy statement to the Ministerial Conference on Environment and Development in Asia and the Pacific 2000. The Ministerial Conference on Environment and Development in Asia and the Pacific was held from 31 August to 5 September in Kitakyushu, Japan. The Conference was attended by participants at the Ministerial level from countries in the ESCAP region and beyond. Among the major outcomes of the Conference were the Regional Action Programme for Environmentally Sound and Sustainable Development 2001-2005, the Vision for the 21st Century: Ministerial Declaration on Environment and Development in Asia and the Pacific, the Regional Message for the 10-Year Review of UNCED, and the Kitakyushu Initiative for a Clean Environment.
