As part of the Ministerial Conference on Environment and Development (MCED) 2005, a forum on environmental technology was held at Lotte Hotel from 24-26 March 2005.

The forum provided participants with opportunities to get information of the policies and trend of new environmental technologies. Presentation topics included policy for development and promotion of new environmental technology, trends of new environmental technology, and good practices of environmental technology.

Participants of note included Ms. Sun-sook Park, Vice Minister, Ministry of Environment, ROK, Mr. Maanee Lee, Chairman, Korea Environmental Management Cooperation, Mr. Oleg V. Shipin, Professor, Asian Institute of Technology, Ms. Nguyen Hong Khanh, Deputy Director of The Institute of Environmental Technology, Vietnam, and Mr. Yeon Soon Ahn, Director of Environmental Technology Division, Ministry of Environment, ROK, as well as Korean professors, researches, and businessmen.

Private sector participants included Tomoe (Japan), Veolia Water System Korea (France), and several Korean companies including Hanwha, Hyosung, samsung, and Korea Power Engineering company.

Participants also had an opportunity to visit a landfill site in Seoul that was converted into the World Cup Park.
