The Expert Group Meeting (EGM) on Regional Knowledge and Cooperation for Comprehensive Multi-Hazard Risk Management in Asia and the Pacific , was held to review and discuss the recent developments of disaster risk reduction initiatives towards building regional knowledge and capacity through regional cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. These included: the development of the Asia-Pacific Gateway on Disaster Risk Reduction and Development; the needs for data for disaster risk reduction and assessment; the progress of the Regional Cooperative Mechanism on Disaster Monitoring and Early Warning, particularly Drought, and the development of the Asia Pacific Disaster Report. The EGM general expert views on the above topics as well as major conclusions and recommendations on priority areas of related work for Asia-Pacific countries and the ESCAP secretariat.
