As the culmination of the previous regional working group and stakeholder consultation meetings, the Regional Cooperative Mechanism on Drought Monitoring and Early warning is on its final path to operational service at its launch at the stakeholder meeting.

The expert group meeting, in support of the stakeholder meeting, aims to finalize the work areas of the mechanism, encapsulated into the work plan for 2011-2012, and to formalize and ratify on the secretariat modalities to support the functional service requirements. It will also evaluate the draft vision statement as the guiding principle of its work and for the future.
