Sub-regional Workshop on Strengthening ICT Policies and Applications to Achieve MDGs and WSIS Goals in Central Asia and South Asia

ESCAP's Information and Communications Technology and Disaster Risk Reduction Division (IDD) is organizing the “Sub-regional workshop on Strengthening ICT policies and applications to achieve MDGs and WSIS goals in Central Asia and South Asia” in Bangkok , Thailand from 21 to 22 October 2009.

The sub-regional workshop will present the findings of the in-depth research and analysis on the current status of ICT access in the region and confer on policy options at the national level, taking into account new and emerging technologies. The meeting will also aim to explore possible concerted strategies for regional cooperation and to create synergies and harmonized approaches with international and regional organizations.

The meeting will be attended by government experts and representatives from least developed countries (LDCs), landlocked developing countries (LLDCs) and small islands developing states (SIDS). The workshop is also expected to be attended by representatives of the international/regional organizations and private sector involved at the forefront of technological implementations for MDG and WSIS goals in the region.
