Regional Workshop on Applications of ICT in Population and its Related Fields:
e-Learning and e-Health

The Regional Workshop on Applications of ICT in population and its related fields: e-Learning and e-Health was jointly organized by UNESCAP and the National Population and Family Planning Commission of China (NPFPC), with support from many Chinese institutes and enterprises. The aim of the workshop was to share information in employing information, communication and space technology to help achieve population and health related Millennium Development Goals. It focused on e-Learning and e-Health tools; resource sharing mechanism for population / family planning programmes, and improving the capacity of family planning workers at grassroots level.

The workshop was attended by more than 140 participants. Approximately 80 participants from China , India , Indonesia , Lao PDR, Pakistan , Sri Lanka , Thailand , USA and the Philippines at the main conference site in Lanzhou , and by more than 60 Chinese participants at two distant sites in Beijing and Zhuhai through satellite based tele-conference facilities.
