Regional Working Group on Meteorological Satellite Applications and Natural Hazards Monitoring and
Regional Workshop on Regional Cooperative Mechanisms on Space Information for Drought Disaster Reduction

25-28 September 2006 Hong Kong, China

The 12th Meeting of the Regional Working Group Meeting on Remote Sensing, Geographic Information Systems and Satellite-based Positioning, the 11th Meeting of the Regional Working Group Meeting on Meteorological Satellite Applications and Natural Hazards Monitoring and the Regional Workshop on Regional Cooperative Mechanisms on Space Information for Drought Disaster Reduction are scheduled to be jointly held from 25 to 28 September 2006 in Hong Kong, China.

The meeting will be hosted by the National Remote Sensing Centre of China through its Hong Kong Base, the Joint Laboratory for GeoInformation Science of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Copies of the provisional agenda, annotated provisional agenda, tentative programme of the meeting, information note for participants and the map of the meeting venue are available from menu on the left for reference.

The meeting will review the implementation of the Regional Space Applications Programme for Sustainable Development (RESAP) at the regional level, including the preparatory activities towards the Third Ministerial Conference on Space Applications for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific, 2007. The meeting will also discuss on regional cooperative mechanisms in space applications to support drought disaster reduction; space information products, services and delivery systems for disaster management; and recommend regional cooperation activities for the strategy and action plan in preparation for the Ministerial Conference.
